“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some humour and some style”
– Maya Angelou

When children are in families, they do not ‘age out’ of care. They remain connected to their parents, siblings, and community and have a social support network. This is rarely the case with children living in orphanages.

We are always learning new approaches to best prepare our teens for the future, but we have already seen the fruits of our labour in some of the young adults who have left Ethandweni. We have seen teenage boys excel at their first jobs and make strides towards turning talent into a career. We have seen young women learn to support themselves on their own. We have seen both boys and girls embrace the outside world with open arms and blossom as they become valuable parts of the community.

Some of our children have become very successful farmers, thanks to projects such as Ebenezer Agricultural Training Centre. (7 of our children have passed through their training course). Others have been fortunate enough to further their studies at colleges and universities. Most children that have left our home remain in close contact with us, and we have been able, through kind friends, to assist them in furthering their futures in Zimbabwe.
